March 20-25

This has been the week of boredom here. Just to let you know, the most interesting that happened this week? I wrote a letter to my mission president in Portuguese. ALL in Portuguese. Here goes

(NOTE, this is a literal, grammatical transliteration of this letter. And so you know, my Mission President laughed when he received it and made one of the office elders put it in my permanent file. What a goober...)

"My dear President Campbell,

I am the best missionary in the MTC!! I speak Portuguese perfectly, and I am very intelligent, and VERY spiritual. My humility overtaketh all the missionaries here. I am also very, very funny!! ;D

Really, kid me.

Sincerely, my name is Elder Vogeler, I'm from Salt Lake City (I know, "the factory" and the "house of the Prophet") but I still like our church. (How do you say "sarcasm?")

You must excuse my poor humor. Really, I am a GEEK, but I love my opportunity to serve a mission in Manaus.

I am very excited for the work I you do here in Brazil. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I know that He is my older Brother. I would sacrifice my life to Christ (NOTE: that should have been "for"). For the next two years, "I will go and do the things the Lord commands, for I know the Lord never gives commands to the children of men without before preparing a way by which those commands may be completed."

For my entire life, I have known Jesus Christ and His Church. I want...I NEED to share the Love of God with the people of Manaus--my brethren in Spirit.

Thank you for your sacrifice, and you work, President Campbell. Excuse my bad Portuguese. Again, I am very excited to be in the missionary field! So, until later.

OUR CHURCH IS TRUE!!!

Sincerely,
Elder Eric Vogeler."

Wow, I guess translating from English into Portuguese back into English doesn't turn out so bad. Believe me, it wasn't as nice and grammatical in Portuguese as it was in English.

NOTE: I have a huge crush on Sister O'Brien. I noticed this after she came up to me after a devotional and said "Elder Vogeler, you are funny! Seriously. FUNNY!" and I about melted. I haven't felt twitterpated like this since...well, I don't know when. Settle down Elder! See what the MTC can do to you?! She's a fantastic girl, but man I need to get a grip. Lock your heart...sing a favorite hymn...etc.
